Waking up before my alarm. Now, usually I prefer not to set an alarm on a Saturday but it was actually so good because it gave me more time to wash my dishes and talk to my sister.
Morning Jog! My good friend Sui Ki and I are officially signed up for the Great Wall 1/2 Marathon May 21st in Beijing - with payment being sent tomorrow - and our longer runs are happening on Saturdays. It's so nice to see others out exercising and enjoying the welcomed warmer weather.
Not being rushed. I'm not the most on time person - usually I'm racing to grab things on my way out the door, but today I actually had enough time to think and get ready. Pretty fantastic!
Marking on the train to and from the city. First, I had a seat both ways!! Second, I could actually focus on my marking. Third, there's such a refreshing difference between my grade 11 PE girls and grade 10s that it's really a delight to mark their quizzes.
Hanging out with Chinese kids. A little chaotic at moments but so nice to be with kids and build relationships. Showing them a world map soon turned into a game to find places in English.
A new park. A friend took me to a park downtown I hadn't been to yet. While the surroundings are still pretty grey, it was so nice to stand on grass and people watch while chatting on a bench. I love the culture here in parks - people here just sitting around playing card games, smiling and being community.
I got a Paint-by-number kit from a student for Christmas so I'm looking forward to returning to the park when it gets warmer, maybe with a French mustache and hat, to do some painting and have a party of sorts.
Snacks. I like to snack... too much :) But my friend took me to this new cream puff place, so I had to have at least two! Sooo good! Actually, other than the popcorn I found I did pretty good today. Besides, it's nearly 10pm and I've been blogging instead of eating dinner, so it's a good thing I like to snack. Yes, a good thing.
:)

haha, when you wrote "other then the popcorn i found," i was thinking i hope you didn't find some random popcorn in the park and start eating it!! i hope you meant you found it in a store or at your house! hehe!
Haha yes it was from the store. It's so cheap here I can afford to buy it rather than eating it off the ground ;) Funny thing though, b/c my friends were just teasing me about such a thing last night after I told them I found a candy on the gym floor. I was excited b/c it looking like a Starburst and I haven't seen those in China yet. But really, it was wrapped still and it's a hard candy so I'm sure it's safe! haha
