School never gets boring

Seriously, how could school ever get boring when you are surrounded by children?

Today's birthday boy decided for some reason that during recess or mandarin class, or sometime when he wasn't in my class, that he would color his front teeth with his lead pencil. Hmmmm... so before eating his birthday cake he had to wash his teeth with soap.

There's been at LEAST 6 crying children in my class in the last 2 days. The first 4 from legitimate PE injuries. Another was dreadfully upset that he brought his pencil out for lunch and then lost it, but of course it turned up in the lost and found as soon as he went to look for it. The last was crying over "having" to eat birthday cake when he didn't want to.

One girl in our class can't see the board - which is a pretty normal problem you solve by getting glasses. Apparently, according to the student, her mother doesn't want her to wear glasses so instead she must sit at the front of the class. Yesterday I turned around and she was wearing was seemed to be sunglasses in class as she looked at the board. They're actually very dark lenses with pinholes that she has to look through. I have never seen such a thing. Probably a good parent-teacher conference topic though!

Other than my post-holiday disorganization, it's been a pretty calm week.
