Adventure OR Irritant?

Before leaving Canada the new teachers attended a meeting where a former administrator informed us that we would need to decide whether we would allow China to be an ADVENTURE or an IRRITANT. Clearly, I decided on ADVENTURE!!! So here's a little peek at some of my recent adventures and favourite things:

ü My fat swollen finger that mysteriously appeared this afternoon

ü PE T-shirts from my new favorite store that don’t show sweat J

ü Running along the beach to the sounds of fireworks

ü Powerful smells… POWERFUL!

ü The girl in my class named Alien (they choose their own English names!)

ü Buying a watermelon for about $1.25

ü A 50m Chinese swimming pool where people swims laps in both directions at the same time (with no lane ropes)

ü Learning to speak some mandarin and buying my own fruit and veggies at the local market!

ü Skype dates!

ü Walking through the middle of construction zones with no hard hats

ü Riding past the guards on my new bicycle yelling “BEEP BEEP!” and having a little laugh together J

ü I LOVE that laughing and smiling are universal!

ü FREE stuff for my apartment!!!

ü Weaving my way through Chinese crowds (but actually, I quite like doing this!)

ü Playing soccer with other expats

ü Cheap food!

ü Wooden Chop sticks

ü Cooking my own food like a real grown-up

ü Organizing my office desk

ü Watching little kids run around and play and smiling at them
