This has been a speedy year thus far! I had thought previously that I might go home for Christmas this year since I have 11 days holiday, but I'm not. It's expensive and since I'm moving home in July I thought it's best to enjoy my time here while I'm here. So instead I'm going to Thailand!
But first, I decided to stick around this cold place for a couple days first though so I could celebrate Christmas at church before going. After a full day of Christmas Party activities at school on Friday (I wish I could share pictures of my cute class!), I planned a fun Christmas party at church that night as well! Thankfully everyone had a good time despite my last-minute preparations, and we have some super multicultural nativity scenes sporting the fantastic masks we made! Saturday I enjoyed not leaving my house till darkness had fallen and spending a full day NOT doing anything I planned to do! Yeah holidays! Then today at church we had an afternoon program where we were able to invite Chinese friends to share the Christmas story. It seems I'm getting a lot of practice being an MC for events at church so if you need an MC when I move home, I may need a job ;)
Wow, did we ever survived 2012! I got to watch that movie for the first time last night and was delighted to find I did a REALLY good job of predicting the ending. Thank you to all my friends who put up with me talking and predicting aloud the entire time.
You know you've been in China a while when you buy a piece of clothing on purpose that you once thought was "too China" and therefore unwearable. See the legging below. Truth be told, Pinterest convinced me I should buy a pair. So I caved and bought the 90rmb ($14.30) expensive pair which I figure I can justify by wearing them in Canada under snow pants because they're super warm.
Just thought I'd mention that one thing I'm really enjoying lately is NOT being distracting by any particular male. As much as I love the enormous excitement I manage to create for myself, I also love being able to have a head that can see things more clearly. And right now I'm really liking that.
I'm also just enjoying and trying to be more present. My imagination is super good at launching itself into the future and wanting to dream and then plan everything super far in advance. Which I admit, I mostly enjoy :) For example, this past summer I was already dreaming about going to garage sales with my mom and finding and fixing furniture for a house in Canada... ya, a little early for that. My point is that right now I just really don't NEED to think and plan for applying for jobs quite yet. Soon enough i will, but not yet. Instead I'll plan holidays......... ;)
Which I suppose I should get doing soon. I'm off to Bangkok tomorrow and OF COURSE I haven't packed yet! Just enjoying my new warm leggings on the couch in the quietness of my apartment before I leave them behind for a week. So long cold winter wind!
