It started at dinner on Wednesday. I was sharing how excited I was that the Across the Lake Swim (which is a 2km swim across Okanagan Lake that I've done for the past 8 years) might be happening a week later this year. I'm excited because that means I can safely travel at the end of the school year on my way home from China and still make it back in time for the swim. I've done it 8 years in a row, so I must do 9, and then therefore must obviously make it 10 times in 2014 because that would just be nice. The old lady part came in when a coworker suggested I could be the 90-year-old lady who's swam across the lake 70 years in a row. Now that would be a cool old lady. I wish.
Next came going to bed shortly after 10pm on Friday night (though this could be a little late for an old lady). However, to be fair, an evening spent doing Australian wine tasting takes credit for that one.
Saturday morning started strong - rising fairly early after my early night and swimming 3km. But by afternoon my muscles were suddenly tight and achy. Achy I say!
(did you know I have grey hairs that I now really have to make an effort to hide? saddness.)
A night of belting KTV (asian Karaoke) left me pooped (an old lady WOULD say that). So much so that I even had some strange dream about how my body was so achy I couldn't climb the mountain to write something on the whiteboard for my students...?!?!? Oh dear.
I recently noticed my one fingernail has slightly larger ridges than the others. Which must certainly mean it's aging faster. Right?
And who knows the new life expectancy of my lungs after sucking in China second-hand smoke EVERYWHERE because chinese people love smoking. ICK!
But I'm not REALLY that old. January will make me 28 on the 28th. Not so bad. I still have 62 years of swimming to go if I want to be that cool old lady.

HA! Very weird feeling isn't it? You are super young and cool. (I must keep believing that because if you get old then I will be even OLDERRRRR).
