Transition #2

So I decided to move to Surrey without a job... which I guess is pretty normal for teachers (and other people) because jobs can take a while to find.

Two days after I emailed my friend to confirm I'd move into the basement suite she also let me know that the school she works at was hiring!!  I contacted them again (I'd already applied before they had any postings) and long story short is that I HAVE A JOB for next year!!! God is pretty good at working out the details so much better than I imagine. I'll be working less than 10 minutes from where I'll be living. I'll be teaching Grade 3 again!!! And I'm already signed up to be a teacher sponsor for the running club to run the 2014 Vancouver Sun Run... which I already had wanted to do anyways! Hooray!!

Already this year I'd applied for more than 20 jobs and hadn't heard much back - hadn't even had an interview. But all that was needed was ONE good fit. (I'm keeping that in mind for other important things!) I'm blessed to get a job at such a good school and just close enough to the big city. I'm also really looking forward to collaborating with other Grade 3 teachers and learning from working together!

In the next month and a bit I've got a big crate and suitcases that need to be carefully and creatively packed, final units to be taught, good-byes to be said and any final China activities checked off my list! Of course I've already gotten ideas started for home too... researching swimming pools/community centers in the Surrey area, summer activities, pondering a new church, seeing family... and on it goes! Plus, I've heard there are gangs in Surrey so I'm a little concerned the first time I hear a gun shot I'll ignore it like I do these loud chinese fireworks. Change!
